What in the world is this mysterious vehicle seen driving along a Florida highway?

I'm sorry, but what the flippin' heck is this?

Did Elon Musk invent a new vehicle I'm unaware of?

Cuz this looks like it's from the future.

And is there somebody driving it?

An alien, maybe…

Here's Michael Ruede, who encountered this strange vehicle near Punta Gorda, Florida:

"I saw this bright red light flashing, and I was like ‘what the heck is this?' If there was somebody in there they had to be laying back."

I don't know about you, but this sounds like the beginning of an alien encounter story. And this dude's just out here on the highway passing up the little spaceship, slowing down, recording video of it, and then repeating the process.

If that's me, I'm taking one video and then driving home as fast as possible.

Like, I'm out!

They say curiosity killed the cat, you know.

Well, come to find out this vehicle wasn't a spaceship after all.

Yup, it's a recumbent bike.

One that costs an estimated $20,000!

The contraption is actually a recumbent bike, and a really decked-out one, to say the least.

"I would expect in the excess of $20,000," said Michael Holm, owner of Fort Myers Cyclery.

Whoever this is, takes biking really seriously. They're sitting somewhere under that hood to boost their aerodynamics.

"Ninety-nine percent of what we work against when we pedal a bicycle forwards is wind resistance," said Holm.

So this bro is just out here in the dark riding a decked-out bobsled-lookin' bike on the highway like it's no big deal.

And he's probably sweating his behind off!

I can't tell whether I think this is extremely cool or just next-level lame.

Either way, I'm a little disappointed that there's no alien involved.

Here's the full story for ya:
