Douglas Hatley, a 71-year-old man from Tampa, Florida was pulled over on I-4 after he somehow strapped a stolen power pole to the roof of his car.

Hatley says he found the pole on the ground by the side of the highway and wanted to sell the metal for scrap. He made it to the recycling center but was turned away after he was unable to provide proper documentation for the pole.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Hatley was pulled over after another driver reported that a maroon Toyota Camry was hauling a metal pole – nearly double the length of the car – on its roof. (casual)

The Tampa Bay Times said that the pole was reported stolen by a highway maintenance worker.
