Whole Foods in downtown San Fran closes one year after opening due to theft and drug use

A Whole Foods Market in sunny San Francisco closed Monday due to safety concerns in the leftist utopia, just over one year after it opened.

"We are closing our Trinity location only for the time being," a Whole Foods spokesperson said in a statement. "If we feel we can ensure the safety of our team members in the store, we will evaluate a reopening of our Trinity location."

Given San Fran's death spiral, I'm not sure that will be any time soon, but I wish them the best. It is truly horrible what politicians have done to that city and that state.

Ahead of the March 2022 opening, Whole Foods called the location, a 64,737 square-foot store, its "flagship" in a press release. In October, however, the store cut its hours because of theft and dangerous people who were wandering in from the streets. In November, the store then changed its bathroom rules for shoppers because of used drug syringes and pipes were found there.

San Fran has become a ghost town since the strict pandemic lockdowns in the city back in 2020. Its politicians have passed laws that encourage and attract the worst kind of human suffering as homeless encampments and drug addicts flood the streets. Last week, the high-profile murder of Bob Lee, the founder of Cash App, rocked the city when the tech tycoon was stabbed to death on the streets of a nice neighborhood.

The city also faces a deficit of nearly $800 million in 2023, tipping the city further towards bankruptcy.

City Board of Supervisors member Matt Dorsey expressed his sadness at the announcement, but said he understood the decision.

Dorsey, a Democrat (cuz duh) also said he would introduce a bill that would lead to a "fully staffed police department within 5 years."

I guess "Defund The Police" is dead, eh?

(San Fran has lost 330 officers since 2017 and has only 1,500 officers to its 2,100-officer goal.)

Unfortunately, when leftists see problems that they created, they nearly-always assume that more of their policies will fix said problems.

R.I.P., San Fran! 😭
