Turns out, woke-broke Silicon Valley Bank threw over $73 million at Black Lives Matter and other related social justice groups before it folded like a cheap suit. Shocker, no?
The Claremont Institute, a conservative thinktank, keeps a database of such info, showing that SVB donated $73,450,000 to BLM and related social justice causes in the name of virtue-signaling and boosting its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) rating (lol).
Silicon Valley Bank was all about shoehorning diversity into their staff and yelling about social issues. Back in summer 2020 they committed to "diversity, equity, and inclusion" – the infamous D-E-I that so often leads to D-I-E.
Their CEO, Greg Becker, even bragged about a company program that would match employee donations to causes focused on "pandemic-response, social justice, sustainability, and supporting women, black, and Latinx emerging talent and other underrepresented groups."
During the BLM reign of rage and rioting, SVB hosted over 40 small group "Conversation Circles" where more than two-thirds of their employees talked about racial equity issues. They also got employees and clients involved through "Tech Gives Back," a week of volunteer events focused on "racial equity, social justice, and access to the innovation economy."
Maybe instead SVB should have been more focused on risk management and running their bank properly?
Here is the page that their Instagram bio link led to before they deleted their IG some time in the past two days:
What's not clear is what SVB's donations were specifically used for. Of course, we'll never know. However, the Claremont Institute noted in a Newsweek op-ed that Global Network, a BLM private organization, uses its cash to fund BLM protests/riots and for "supporting future operations, purchasing luxury real estate, engaging in nepotism, disbursing grants to dozens of BLM chapters and revolutionary organizations, and operating a PAC to elect progressive community leaders, activists, and working-class candidates fighting for black liberation."
Great job, SVB. 👏
