This is absolutely crazy:
Last year, Nike announced that it would not use cotton from the Chinese province of Xinjiang, where millions of Uyghur Muslims are being held in reeducation camps and outsourced for slave labor.
(Here's a recent BBC report on how more than 570,000 slaves are being used to pick Chinese cotton)
Seeing a market opportunity, two Chinese companies called Li-Ning and Anta announced publicly "that they will continue to proudly use cotton produced from Muslim slave labor," according to Outkick.
"Let me repeat this, in response to Nike's statement that they won't make their products with cotton produced from Muslim slave labor, two Chinese sneaker companies have proudly asserted that they will continue to use that cotton produced by Muslim slave labor," said writer Clay Travis.
That's not the worst of it.
Not only are Li-Ning and Anta boasting that they will use slave labor, they've signed contracts with star American NBA players for their brands:
"The NBA has a bevy of players with shoe deals with either Li-Ning or Anta. Yes, you heard that right. NBA players, the same players who have been denouncing and ridiculing American democratic institutions for their perceived lack of wokeness, are pocketing money from Chinese companies profiting directly off cotton produced by Muslim slave laborers.
Think about this for a minute. In 2021, we've got star American athletes still profiting off cotton plantation slave labor."
Here's some of the players that have direct monetary deals with these two Chinese companies and wear their apparel at games:
- Klay Thompson ($80 million contract) and James Wiseman of the Golden State Warriors
- Alex Caruso of the Los Angeles Lakers
- Dwyane Wade, former Miami Heat star
- Jimmy Butler of the Miami Heat
- CJ McCollum of the Portland Trail Blazers
- D'Angelo Russell of the Minnesota Timberwolves
- Fred VanVleet of the Toronto Raptors
Let me paint you a visual of what this looks like:
How about this photo of Klay Thompson sitting in a bathtub with golden sneakers from Anta?
"The Los Angeles Lakers Alex Caruso also has a deal with Anta. Does LeBron James, social justice warrior extraordinaire, think it's appropriate for his teammate to be profiting off Chinese slave labor? We don't know. James is so excited to have Space Jam 2 open in China that he won't say a word of negative criticism about his good buddy Chairman Xi."
Savage, bro. Absolutely savage.
Outkick notes that the NBA and every woke player have gone completely and utterly silent about this hypocrisy.
I'll leave you with this brutal and complete takedown of these zillionaire social-justice hypocrites:
"The NBA will keep right on taking money from modern day Nazis running actual Muslim slave labor cotton plantations, and the NBA will keep right on bowing for their Chinese masters."
