Demi Skipper started with a single bobby pin, and after a year and a half of various trades, she finally reached her goal of trading up to a house.

That's no small feat in this housing market.

Skipper was inspired after watching a Ted Talk by Kyle McDonald, the guy who traded a paperclip up to a house in 2006.

She chronicled the 28 trades it took to go from a bobby pin (worth approximately .01 cents) to a small home in Tennessee on TikTok. Her account, @Trademeproject, went from 0 followers to more than 5 million over the course of 18 months.

Some of the trades included a pair of earrings for a set of margarita glasses, a vacuum for a snowboard, and later a diamond necklace for a Peloton. One of the weirder trades was 3 tractors for a Chipotle celebrity card.

Now that she's reached her goal of getting a house from a bobby pin, Skipper is offering to trade the house for a single bobby pin so she can start all over again (and basically gift the house to someone in need.)
