This is pretty huge.
Everybody knows Fox News has been king of cable news for the last 20 years. But that "fair and balanced" network just lost their crown for the first time since THE YEAR 2000.
Last week, MSNBC and CNN both beat out Fox for viewership.
According to The Daily Wire,
CNN "topped cable networks" with roughly 2.8 million viewers per day between January 4th and January 10th, with 4.2 million viewers in primetime. During that same time period, MSNBC had approximately 2.3 million viewers per day and 3.8 million in prime time. Fox News, however, had just 1.7 million per day and 3.2 million in primetime.
That's a pretty bad beating for a network that's used to stomping the competition for 20 years straight.
Part of the reason was no doubt the Georgia runoff elections and, of course, that small matter at the U.S. Capitol last week. But up and comer alternative media networks that target conservatives have been siphoning viewership from Fox for a while too, especially as Fox has become less and less Trump-friendly. For example, Newsmax had 443,000 viewers during primetime last week.
That's a sizable chunk of the pie. And it's definitely folks who were former Fox News viewers.
Obviously, it's got the network's management in a flop-sweat trying to turn things around.
this sudden post-election decline has driven Rupert Murdoch to take "a more hands-on role," and that "multiple network insiders" have said that "Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott and President Jay Wallace are fighting for their jobs."
Here's my expert suggestion, Fox. Try not alienating your base.
