Y'all stopped buying McDonald's because it got so expensive so the CEO says "affordability" is going to be a priority now

The people have spoken, and the powers-that-be are listening:

On an earnings call Monday, McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski said that sales in the last quarter took a negative turn, thanks to higher menu prices.

'I think what you're going to see as you head into 2024 is probably more attention to what I would describe as affordability,' CEO of McDonald's Chris Kempczinski said on Monday during an earnings call.

Everyone who skipped McDonald's in protest of their skyrocketing prices:

Okay, okay, "more attention to what I would describe as affordability" isn't the most promising vow to bring prices down.

Especially when we're talking about fast food. You don't think McDonald's - a chain known for it's legendary ability to aggressively out-compete other chains with its low-cost offerings - isn't already doing everything it (legally) can to sell you the cheapest possible food?

And yet something - like, I dunno, printing over half the money currently in circulation for a pandemic or tanking the economy - is causing McDonald's to raise its prices to stay afloat.

So now we're in this fun race to the bottom where no one can afford basic things like fast food and the companies have the impossible job of trying to make things cheaper so they don't go out of business.

'Eating at home has become more affordable,' Kempczinski said during the call. 'The battleground is certainly with that low-income consumer.'

Can't wait for the new cardboard Big Mac!!
