I know by doing this we toe that fine line between confronting dangerous ignorance and amplifying buffoonery better left to wither and die in lonely obscurity, but I think it's beneficial to take a deeper dive into the story Not the Bee covered yesterday.
Here's the clip from The View that went viral this week:
Though he later thought better of the tone and tenor of the remark, one of the well-respected ethics and theology experts I follow online reasonably deduced that when this is the state of public discourse, ours is a society ruled by "a bunch of Mengelian idiots."
I appreciate that very few people, and certainly no one in their right mind, tunes into The View for wisdom and enlightenment. Those who watch do so for entertainment - either to reinforce their own perspectives or to relish the foolishness of the opposition. But still, the truth remains that bad ideas have a way of metastasizing and infecting minds that are consistently exposed to them. Over time, even the most "Mengelian" or "idiotic" viewpoint can take root and begin to sound reasonable when it's not confronted.
That's actually the primary reason that Disney/ABC refuse to put articulate, grounded, conservative voices on their panel of progressive parrots. No Mollie Hemingway, no Star Parker, no Lila Rose, no Megyn Kelly, no Mary Katherine Ham. The closest thing they're willing to do is put former Republican-turned-Democrat pundits like Ana Navarro or Alyssa Farah Griffin, and falsely claim they're fair and balanced.
The mere fact that no one challenged Whoopi's intellectually-insipid word salad tells you all you need to know about the brain rot infecting that set. In order to ensure the rot doesn't spread into our circles, let's make sure we understand all that's wrong with Goldberg's garbage take.
Scientifically, Whoopi's position is flatly idiotic. Those arguing that biological men should not be competing against women for scholarships, awards, and recognition in sports aren't doing so because they think women are weak or incapable. It's because there is a distinct and undeniable physiological, muscular, and physical advantage that biological men have over women. It's why the U.S. women's national soccer team lost to a team of 15-year-old boys. We all know this.
The aforementioned Megyn Kelly asked the logical question:
Why is it the whole world can acknowledge that women are at a strength disadvantage when it comes to the risk of sexual assault/rape but when it comes to athletics the message is: "women are as strong as men! You got this ladies!"
It's anti-science gobbledygook.
Culturally, it's misogynistic. I know that might seem odd given the progressive left's pretension to be the party of, by, and for women, but the movement that swore to bring down the patriarchy is now at the forefront of the attack on the uniqueness and grandeur of femininity.
Professing that being a woman is just a state of mind, obliterating all the Title IX guarantees and prohibitions, permitting boys in sports bras to take medals, prestige, and scholarship money away from women - those are funny ways to champion the sisterhood.
And though I doubt that she cares, the worst offense in Whoopi Goldberg's mindless rant is that it is theologically double-minded and wicked. Pronouncing that God makes no mistakes, while simultaneously championing the moral chaos of Satan himself is just superb. If God truly makes no mistakes, arguing that He shoved this girl or that boy into the "wrong body" is as offensive as it gets.
But that's the state of modern progressive thought - a poison to the soul and a mortal threat to the stability of any free society.
