The last three stories on our site were absolutely dismal as the end of the working day approached.
To me, it's just another day of work.
A day of sifting through the worst things a person can see. A day of wading through the mud to report on things that matter and things that make us laugh.
Publishing three stories in a row like that isn't easy, especially when you multiply it day after day, week after week, year after year.
People ask me why I do it.
The answer is simple:
'Don't participate in the fruitless works of darkness, but instead expose them. For it is shameful even to mention what is done by them in secret. Everything exposed by the light is made visible, for what makes everything visible is light. Therefore it is said:
Get up, sleeper, and rise up from the dead,
and Christ will shine on you.' - Ephesians 5:11-14
And
'He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?' - Micah 6:8
And
'Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter.' - Proverbs 24:11
What we write here is of little consequence unless you, dear reader, take it to heart and it moves you into action.
But you have taken it to heart. The vibe, as the kids say, has shifted.
One day God will judge the living and the dead. No dark deed will remain hidden. All of us will have to give an account.
Many people stupidly think that's just fairytale nonsense - that they can live however they want and none of it will matter. But everything matters. Every little detail. Every moment. Every life.
"Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows."
I want to encourage you this Monday with a reminder that in the end, good wins. The scoffers can go on thinking this is wishful thinking. We have no need for them. Step by step, ounce by ounce, minute by minute, God is putting His enemies under his feet, and the last enemy to be defeated will be death (1 Corinthians 15:20-28).
So take heart: You live in an age where men and women are burdened daily by evil news that no person should ever have to bear, but you were placed in this time for a purpose.
I am meant to be here. You are meant to be here. We are tasked with pushing back the darkness.
