I'm going to write this as an op-ed because some of you will invariably think I'm taking a side. πŸ˜‚

If you haven't heard, Elon Musk decided to start a new political party after his frustrations with Republicans and the new omnibus spending bill. He did thorough market research, by which I mean he made a poll on X, and now the America Party is a thing (well, almost)!

Because of the national debate last December about H-1B migrant workers (which Musk supports), as well as the number of "patriot" accounts on X that are actually run by anonymous Indians, someone made a fake SEC filing showing that Tesla CFO Vaibhav Taneja had formally created the party.

THIS IS FAKE

That, of course, kicked off memes implying that everyone supporting the America Party online is actually Indian, which, given all I've learned about the number of Indians now farming for engagement on English-speaking social media, is probably based somewhat in truth πŸ˜‚

Consider:

Feel free to laugh at these memes (I did!):

This video was especially well done:

But this Indiana Jones meme might be my favorite:

I won't give you my thoughts as to the America Party's success, or the American Party, or the American Independent Party for that matter, but I will say that social media polls (almost) never reflect real life.

And with that, feel free to argue in the comments. 🫑
