After Biden’s "democracy is under attack" speech, GOP candidate for Illinois governor receives threats to be skinned alive and have his family fed to him. Sounds peaceful.

Hold up! CNN assured us that "political violence is a purely right-wing phenomenon."

So, what are we supposed to do with the actual violent attacks on GOP candidates that just happened?

First, New Hampshire Senate candidate General Bolduc had to dodge a punch outside his debate with Democrat Maggie Hassan.

Then, Republican Illinois gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey received a message from deranged psychopath saying he was going to "skin Darren Bailey alive," and "feed his [flowerbedding] family to him as he is alive and screaming in [flowerbedding] pain."

Even the Democrat candidate thought that was going too far:

The attacks come on the heels of President Biden giving a speech in which he repeated CNN's talking points, laying all the blame for political violence at the feet of Donald Trump and the Republicans.

"This intimidation, this violence against Democrats, Republicans and non-partisan officials just doing their jobs, is the consequence of lies told for power and profit, lies of conspiracy and malice, lies repeated over and over to generate a cycle of anger, hate, vitriol and even violence," Biden said. "In this moment, we have to confront those lies with the truth, the very future of our nation depends on it.

"American democracy is under attack because the defeated former president … refuses to accept the will of the people."

In CNN's coverage they included this little bit for clarification:

"Biden made sure to note that most Americans, and even most Republicans, would not resort to violence. But he said those who would have outsized influence.

What Biden actually said was

"I believe the voices excusing or calling for violence and intimidation are a distinct minority in America," Biden said. "But they're loud and they are determined."

Still, the continued rhetoric calling for peace while painting the other party as violent is leading to real problems.

Both men perpetrating the attacks on the GOP candidates have been arrested. They will probably be released in a few hours without bail.
