Remember that Wisconsin spice company who put on a "Republicans Are Racist" sale in honor of MLK weekend?

Well, they've lost 3 percent of their "Voice of Cooking" email subscribers over it. 40,000 people just up and unsubscribed, and now CEO Bill Penzey is seriously out here trying to get his loyal brainwashed fanbase to purchase discounted gift cards in order to make up for the loss.

Okay, let me pull myself together…

Alright, so let me show you a bit of this email Bill Penzey sent out to his fans. He also put it out on Facebook to give you an idea for how desperate he is.

After starting the year with our Voice Of Cooking email list calling out All Republicans are Republicans and following up with Republicans are Racists, we've set a nice little Boycott Penzeys! surge in motion. It certainly wasn't unexpected, but if it's within your means, you picking up a small stack of Gift Cards would help.

I've got to say, at least he admits that he expected this little hit he took with the boycott. Bill's at least still somewhat with it…

Okay, here's the good part:

And where a couple times a year we've offered $50 Gift Cards for $35, this time we are doing 2-$25 Gift Cards for $35 instead, with the hope this might make it a bit easier for you to share some and possibly get a few good new customers to replace the ones we've lost.

Our starting the year with just being done with pretending Republican nonsense is anything other than non-sense has cost us 40,005 unsubscribes (roughly 3%) from our Voice Of Cooking email list. So far your word-of-mouth has already brought us 30,000 fresh faces, but we are still down about 10,000. Please help.

I do find it sort of disturbing that people have latched onto a spice company simply due to the fact that they called all Republicans racists.

But hey, just remember, if the new girl you're seeing uses the (I'll admit it) delicious spices from Penzeys, you're probably dating a sociopath. And you'd better be pulling your mask up between bites, mister!

Just sayin.

Anyhow, I look forward to never using Penzeys Spices ever again.
