Before opening this, try to guess which country is ranking #2 for illegal immigration in San Diego (Really, try to guess.)
· Feb 25, 2024 · NottheBee.com

Did you guess? Because unless you're up-to-date on the latest CBP numbers (or you know how to pick out a country solely by shape), you probably didn't get it:

The number of Chinese nationals crossing the southern US border near San Diego has eclipsed the number of Mexicans in recent months, according to a new report.

US Customs and Border Protection has recorded 21,000 encounters with Chinese nationals in the San Diego Sector since the fiscal year began in October, according to CBP data obtained by Fox News that is not yet public.

That's more than the 18,700 encounters with Mexican nationals during the same period, and second only to the 28,000 Columbians CBP reported encountering in the sector.

"21,000 encounters with Chinese nationals."

Is anyone else, um, rather worried by that number?

And the numbers are quickly getting worse, not better: In fiscal year 2023 border officials "reported 24,048 Chinese citizens were apprehended by Border Patrol at the southern border — up more than 10 times from the 1,970 arrests recorded during the 2022 fiscal year, and just 323 the year before."

I mean, to be sure, on the one hand this is a known factor to border officials. Chinese nationals "can fly into Ecuador without a visa," and historically they've "had a high success rate with asylum claims in America." So many Chinese citizens are willing to fly into Ecuador and make the lengthy trek north into U.S. territory.

Still — do we think the ChiComs aren't possibly interested in exploiting this? Do we think Xi would let a sieve like this go to waste?

We've covered some of this before.

Last month, we informed you that the Biden admin has actually lowered the standards for illegal immigrants from China to come into the US.

And you'll probably recall a few weeks ago when we talked about the 60 Minutes story showing migrants from China using TikTok to find holes in the southern border wall so they can get into California.

So, if you're paying attention, and if this got better coverage, you wouldn't be totally shocked.

Tennessee Rep. Mark Green, the chair of the Homeland Security Committee, agrees that the numbers indicate a massive national security risk:

While it is true that some individuals may be seeking relief from authoritarian regimes, there is no way for our brave men and women on the frontlines of this crisis to adequately vet all of them before being effectively forced to release them — particularly when countries like China won't allow us access to their various law enforcement databases.

Green claims that "some of these Chinese nationals have even been found to be affiliated with the People's Liberation Army and the Chinese Communist Party."

According to Texas Rep. Tony Gonzales, meanwhile, the usual suspects are helping direct this massive flow of immigration:

It's very clear that the Sinaloa Cartel is the one controlling that operation and sending Chinese more towards the California corridor.

Cartels directing historic levels of untraceable CCP-linked illegal immigrants to our borders: What could go wrong, people?
