Biden calls for more gun control, including holding gun makers responsible for criminal actions. Let me explain to you how stupid this is.

Joe Biden wants to kill the right to bear arms, and he's using a tragedy to strong-arm the American public into submission.

Three years ago, an unhinged lunatic walked into the Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida and opened fire with a semi-auto rifle. Out of the ensuing investigation, a committee suggested that such events could be prevented by allowing trained staff members to carry defensive firearms.

Joe Biden, however, wants none of that.

In addition to banning federal dollars from being used to train teachers in self-defense (only moral things like vacuum aspirating unborn babies will be allowed), Biden used the anniversary of the Parkland shooting to reiterate his call for a unilateral ban on "assault style" weapons and other nonsense:

"Today, I am calling on Congress to enact commonsense gun law reforms, including requiring background checks on all gun sales, banning assault weapons and high capacity magazines, and eliminating immunity for gun manufacturers who knowingly put weapons of war on our streets."

Translation:

Here was Biden's full statement:

Let's break down the absurdity of this thing and shine some light on its true objectives, shall we?

Fact 1: A ban on "aSsAuLt weapons" is stupid.

This term means nothing. The ArmaLite Rifle 15 (AR-15) was designed in the mid-20th century as the apex form of firearm design. That's all it is. All legal AR-15s are semi-automatic, meaning you have to pull the trigger once for every bullet fired. Sure, there are plenty of full-auto weapons in the U.S., but that's because bad guys don't follow the rules and banning them does diddly squat at stopping them.

Would you go back to the 1920s in terms of car safety? What about televisions? What about medicine? What about sports equipment?

And yet we're supposed to go back to 100-year-old engineering on weapons because they're "scary?" Yeah, okay.

Fact 2: There is no such thing as "high capacity magazines."

What Biden means is "anything over 10 bullets."

People who have never even seen a gun in real life often ask why someone would need more than that.

Let's go back to the aforementioned bad guys. They won't limit their mag size. They'll come rolling in with a barrel magazine that hold 100 rounds if they want to, and they'll empty that sucker full auto if they so desire. Bad guys don't care.

So who does this penalize? Oh, you know, the pregnant woman who saw armed men break into her dining room and put a gun to her husband's head. That's the person you are hurting.

Fact 3: The Parkland shooting didn't take "seconds."

The entire episode took about 6 minutes. The shooter had to stop to change magazines several times. At that point, he was vulnerable each time. Imagine if someone had had the ability to put him down in those moments.

Fact 4: The Parkland shooter acquired his firearm legally.

Nothing that Biden is proposing would have stopped this criminal from getting a weapon. The shooter went through a background check, which means Biden's proposal of doing checks on both retails and private sales wouldn't have stopped it.

Perhaps it would have made it more difficult to specifically get a semi-automatic rifle, in which case we'd be talking about how he shot up a school with another type of firearm... or perhaps something more powerful found illegally. Evil men bent on mass murder don‘t give up because you expanded background checks.

Fact 5: The "historic increase in homicides across America" that Biden cites was inflamed by Leftist politicians.

The Left went out of its way last year to sow chaos. COVID-19 was "a massive opportunity" for the Democratic Party, as was the racist narrative of BLM. There was an election to win, after all.

Leftist politicians locked people down, drove them out of business, and made them feel like caged animals without purpose. It allowed them to drink and offered support when they overdosed, but shuttered churches and social establishments that would give them support, encouragement, and hope.

It then told them that their nation was hopelessly oppressive and that there was nothing they could do except to burn it all down. Homicides across the nation spiked as violence caused tens of billions in damage.

Fact 6: All of the cities with the worst gun violence have the strongest gun control laws.

Cities like D.C., Chicago, and L.A. have massive, widespread measures to keep people from owning or carrying weapons. Despite that, cities like these have the highest homicide rates. I spent half a year covering the homicide reports of Chicago alone. Gun control stops nothing.

Fact 7: The "black and brown" communities "disproportionately" affected by gun violence are so affected because of the Left's never-ending war on such communities.

It was "black and brown" businesses that burned across America in the wake of the BLM riots. Of all homicides, 90% or more are people of color murdering other people of color.

Yet the way Biden words this seeks to make you think it's systemically racist white people who are the perpetrators, and that the only solution for said people of color is to give over more of their liberty to white politicians like Joe Biden to keep them safe.

Fact 8: Saying you are going to get rid of "immunity for gun manufacturers" for putting "weapons of war" on the streets could also be applied to car manufacturers.

In 2016, over 37,000 Americans died in auto-related accidents. In 2018, 6,227 of the deaths were pedestrians.

A similar amount, 39,773, died in gun-related incidents in 2017. Of these, 60% were suicides (23,854). Of the 37% that were homicides, the majority occurred in low-income, inner-city areas, and the vast majority were committed by members of such communities against other members of the community. Only 4% of gun deaths were from an aSsAuLt rifle, because they ain't cheap and they ain't easy to conceal.

This means that cars are quite a bit more deadly than guns, since vehicles don't discriminate based on location, ethnicity, or social status. I think the next logical step would be to tell Ford and GM that when their vehicle is used to kill someone – especially when intentional – that they should be liable for the "weapons of war" they are putting on our streets!

The same should hold true to every product, whether air fryers or shoes. After all, if a woman hits and kills someone with her stiletto heel, it's imperative that we ban such "weapons of war."

Note: the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act of 2005 prevents lawsuits against firearm companies unless the company was promoting unlawful violence or making a defective/illegal product.

Conclusion: Biden's narrative has nothing to do with real security and everything to do with leveraging tragedy for power in the name of faux safety.
