The more moderate wing of the Democratic Party is fighting off pressure from the most radical group of Democrats, the Squad, Bernie, and other progressives who are pressuring Joe Biden to completely cancel student loan debt.

Biden has not gone as far as to cancel all student debt, he has however made some moves meant to assuage the most radical elements of his party.

He's put some in forbearance and is going to cancel debt for some federal workers, but he's not gone as far as canceling all debt.

(He may be saving that for closer to the election.)

But here, Bill Maher and Democrat strategist Paul Begala explain EXACTLY why canceling student debt is a loser issue for Democrats.

I doubt that Pegala's solution is a winner either, but at least it recognizes that canceling student debt only serves to hurt working Americans who didn't go to college.

Sane Democrats know that this is a bad policy decision, but the radicals are in charge of the party now!
