Christian school in Texas faces criticism after firing teachers who attended drag show

A Christian school in Texas has come under fire for, you guessed it, holding strong to their Christian convictions.

The First Baptist Academy in Baytown, Texas fired two of its teachers, one who had taught at the school for 20 years, after they attended a drag show at Hamburger Mary's, a bar in Houston.

May I be the first to say, "based"?

All the libs in the replies are bemoaning this private school holding its employees to a basic standard of "don't go to sex shows." They say Texas is "anti-freedom" and that Greg Abbott is evil, as if he has something to do with this decision.

But, of course, a Baptist school is going to want to hire teachers who don't actively endorse values and lifestyles antithetical to the faith. That's just common sense.

There was a time this type of behavior would be tolerated, a few years ago, but emboldened leaders have turned us back to sanity.

Kristi Maris took to social media Monday to say she had been fired from her job of nearly 20 years at First Baptist Academy for attending a drag show at Hamburger Mary's. She included a photo of herself and a coworker posing with three drag queens.

Maris had attended the show with a coworker and her daughters earlier this month. The next day, she posted photos and videos of the show on Facebook, saying she had a blast.

It's unclear from the story if she went to this event with the coworker's adult daughter, or if they took a child to this drag show. Obviously, taking a kid would be groomer behavior and an attempt to open kids up to perverse sexuality.

But just going to the show and posting about it on social media is also grooming, as it is a teacher attempting to normalize sexual perversion.

This teacher thinks a Christian school should be required to endorse alternative lifestyles.

"They told me because I went to this show and posted a picture I wasn't walking in a Godly manner," Maris wrote.

Her coworker, who has not been named, also was fired, according to the Chronicle's reporting partner, ABC 13, which first reported the story. The school's senior pastor told the TV station Maris was fired for allegedly violating a clause listed in the school's operating policies manual that said: "I will act in a godly and moral fashion at work, on Facebook and in my community."

There is nothing godly and moral about attending a drag show and posting about it on Facebook.

Maris had to know this would cause an issue. And she posted it and is trying to act like it's no big deal.

She is claiming she doesn't understand the big deal, but her characterization of the situation reveals she's just a big lib trying to push the boundaries.

Maris said she didn't realize attending the drag show put her in violation of the school's guidelines because, to her, the show was about entertainment. The former physical education teacher also said she's a lifelong Christian, which to her means loving everyone equally.

Men dressing as chicks and dancing for money isn't just "entertainment."

If a male gym teacher posted himself at a strip club he wouldn't be able to get off the hook by saying he's "loving everyone equally."

Good on First Baptist Academy for not tolerating this nonsense.
