Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, and Tennessee all need to remain in your prayers as they deal with the fallout of a generational storm event.

Across those first five states mentioned, at least 64 lives have been confirmed lost as of Sunday morning, with death tolls expected to rise as the flood water subside.

As of Sunday morning, at least 60 people were confirmed dead across five states: Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia. Causes of death ranged from rising floodwaters, falling trees, car crashes and a tornado produced by the storm. Many details on the victims were still unknown.

South Carolina has tragically seen the largest confirmed loss of life so far with 23 killed during the storms.

The rainfall from this storm broke records in two states this week, with flooding being a major issue across the southeast.

Heavy rains from Helene set a record in Atlanta, which received its highest 48-hour rainfall on record over the past two days. The Georgia Climate Office tweeted that the area saw 11.12 inches of rain as of mid-day Friday, beating a previous record of 9.59 inches set in 1886.

In North Carolina, the rainfall totals Friday afternoon were staggering: 29.58 inches for Busick, N.C.; 24.20 for nearby Mount Mitchell State Park; about 13 inches in Boone, some 55 miles away.

While Tennessee has fortunately been spared loss of life so far, the financial devastation of some areas is just beginning to sink in.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis is sending National Guard troops out of Florida to North Carolina where they suffered much more damage.

Hundreds of thousands are still without power, cell phone signals are down and people can't contact loved ones, bodies are still being discovered.

This is a total devastation to a large forgotten part of the country.

Prayers need to stay up for those suffering in the storm.
