DeSantis is blowing Trump out of the water in Florida's current Republican presidential preference poll

The momentum is growing and it's only going to keep growing.

A new poll finds that since January, Republicans in Florida have significantly changed their presidential preference, with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis now holding virtually the same lead over former President Donald Trump that Trump held over him then.

In January, Trump led DeSantis in the USA Today/Suffolk University poll of 2024 presidential prospective candidates 47%-40%, but the latest poll shows DeSantis with a 48%-40% lead.

Floridian Republicans changing course on DeSantis over Trump like:

Look, this isn't hard to figure out. Trump, for all his sterling qualities, is faltering. He's completely hung up on 2020, continues to insist without evidence that the election was stolen, and speaks mostly in platitudes.

DeSantis, meanwhile, has been absolutely walking the walk in Florida, getting more done in four years of his governorship than Trump could likely get done with two White House terms. DeSantis is a doer while Trump isn't, not really. Moreover, the former is generous to and far-sighted about the Republican Party while the latter is completely whiffing it:

DeSantis is not being stingy with his money as he is giving millions to help down-ballot Republicans to further increase GOP majorities in the state legislature. Trump, on the other hand, is not shelling out large sums of money to help Republican candidates โ€” at least not yet โ€” as Republican leaders are trying to get him to financially boost the campaigns of Republican candidates that are falling behind.

No real mystery why DeSantis is the new man of the hour.
