Don Lemon's show is tanking after he was fired by Elon Musk following testy interview
· Mar 26, 2024 · NottheBee.com

I'm not sure if any of you noticed, but Don Lemon had a deal to run a show on X for like two seconds and now the deal is scrapped.

Technically, he still broadcasts his show on X, but he actually never finalized a deal with Elon to make his show part of the platform's lineup and it probably had a lot to do with this interview right here.

And possibly this:

Yeah, and that led to this:

Like I said, Lemon didn't get canceled by X — his words, not mine — his show is still there, as well as on YouTube. However, after being cut from the team at X, and seeing views in the millions for his initial episode in which he interviewed Musk (above), the show is tanking, which really shouldn't surprise us.

‘Nobody is watching,' one media watcher told The Post. ‘Poor Don, he doesn't realize people watched the first interview because of Elon — not him! Watching the Elon interview reminded everyone of how much they dislike Don.'

Lemon's second show with tech journalist Kara Swisher, which was posted on X and YouTube last Wednesday, has garnered just 190,000 and 93,000 views, respectively, as of Tuesday morning.

That's a fraction of the views from his interview with Musk, posted to both sites on March 18, which has amassed 2.2 million views on X and 1.2 million views on YouTube as of Tuesday.

What's more, Kara Swisher didn't even repost the interview on X, which, to me, means she wasn't much into it, and that's not good for Lemon's future.

More from the story:

For Lemon to come close to raking in the salary he made at CNN, estimated at between $4 million and $7 million, he will have to launch a subscription model, get sponsors for his shows or do product placement, according to Alex Taub, co-founder and CEO at Truth Arts.

'How you monetize content is through ads and how you get ads is through eyeballs,' Taub told The Post.

A source with knowledge of X's monetization told The Post, 'If he got the numbers he got with the Musk interview, he would be considered a low- to mid-tier creator.'

Yeah, Don, maybe you didn't want to start your new show off with that interview of Elon Musk. Or at least you might have wanted to treat him a bit more fairly during the interview and not come off as a sponsor of regime censorship. Oh, and that bit about wanting equity in X, a free Cybertruck, and a flight on a SpaceX ship, that probably didn't help either.

Man, I was really hoping we'd see a move toward freedom of speech for Don. Instead, we got more of the same CNN garbage from him and now that he's done with the Musk interview his show is back to irrelevance!
