Trump has started selecting his cabinet, and his choice for Secretary of State is making a big splash!
(The following video is from 2016, but it works here so I'm leaving it.)
Multiple outlets have begun reporting that Trump is making his picks, starting with Florida Senator Marco Rubio as Secretary of State.
President-elect Trump is expected to nominate Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida as Secretary of State, a source familiar tells Fox News.
The source noted that while Trump could still change his mind at the last minute, as of now he's planning on offering the job to Rubio, the three-term senator whom the former president considered as his running mate this summer before naming Sen. JD Vance as the GOP vice presidential nominee ...
Rubio, who sits on both the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Foreign Relations Committee, has taken similar positions to Trump on international conflicts, including Russia's invasion of Ukraine and Israel's war with Hamas.
In April, the 53-year-old senator voted against the $95 billion in U.S. aid to Ukraine and has urged the eastern European nation to negotiate an end to its war with Russia.
Yes, it seems like Rubio has begun aligning himself with the Trump agenda when it comes to foreign conflicts, and he appears to be on the fast track to the Secretary of State position.
The other reported pick is a bit more out of left field: South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem as the Director of Homeland Security.
Noem would replace the utterly awful Alejandro Mayorkas in overseeing Customs and Border Patrol, FEMA, ICE, and the Secret Service.
And if there is anyone who is going to run their department as a Trump loyalist who will fight for the President's agenda, you can expect Noem to do so.
Other key positions reportedly filled by the President-elect include:
Chief of Staff: Susie Wiles, Trump's 2024 campaign manager.
National Security Adviser: Mike Waltz, 3-term Florida Congressman, National Guard veteran, and former Pentagon policy adviser.
Border Czar: Tom Homan.
(Enough said.)
United Nations Ambassador: Elise Stefanik, Congresswoman, New York. MAGA Republican. Third-ranking member of Congress after replacing Liz Cheney as House Republican Conference Chair.
Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy: Stephen Miller. Yes, that Stephen Miller. The man behind Trump's immigration agenda since 2015.
Environmental Protection Agency: Lee Zeldin, Congressman, New York. MAGA Republican.
A mix of insiders and outsiders, but, so far, there's no doubt that all of these folks are Trump picks and Trump loyalists, which appears to be his primary motivation for selecting his cabinet.
