General Motors is laying off 1,300 workers as Chevy shutters Bolt production
· Dec 15, 2023 · NottheBee.com

Remember in 2021 when Energy Sec. Jennifer Granholm talked about her Chevy Bolt and she said the Biden administration was investing billions??

The Detroit Press gave a glowing review of Biden's approach:

General Motors, often a target for former President Donald Trump to go after on Twitter, is finding the opposite to be true under President Joe Biden.

In August of last year, Biden spilled the beans about GM's plans for a future all-electric Corvette, creating social media buzz across Twitter.

Well, he's done it again.

YEAH, HE DID IT ALL RIGHT!

The folks at GM are now laying off 1,300 employees.

Of the 1,300 layoffs, more than 900 of them are from Orion Assembly, which manufactured the Chevy Bolt electric car (which is being discontinued after this year).

The Chevy Bolt was one of the first electric vehicles made in the US, but it's popularity has plummeted and the Orion plant will no longer produce the green energy car, leaving 945 Michiganders out of work.

The current plan is to retool the plant and reopen it in 2025 to make electric trucks instead of electric cars.

I'm sure that'll work!

Before that exercise in futility kicks off, there are hundreds of out-of-work auto workers whose time with GM will be up on January 1.

The other 300+ layoffs are at a Camaro plant.

"Lansing Grand River Assembly informed employees today that the plant will adjust staffing levels due to the end of Camaro production," GM said in a statement. "As a result, about 350 employees will be affected beginning Jan. 2. GM anticipates having job opportunities for all impacted team members per the provisions of the UAW-GM National Agreement."

Hopefully, these employees can be relocated within GM.

But don't worry, the billions spent on electric cars is totally paying off! Losses across the board are actually a good thing. The adults are back in charge and this is the best economy of all time!
