Household income in the U.S. fell for a third straight year in 2022

It's right and appropriate to blame Joe Biden and his merry band of Democrats for much of our present ills, but it's only fair to note that our current unhappy decline has been going on for quite a while:

American households' income fell last year as their cost of living jumped higher than it has in over four decades amid soaring inflation and marking the third straight annual decline since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, according to data from the U.S. Census Bureau.

The median household income fell to just under $74,600 in 2022, which was down from about $76,300 in 2021. That's more than 2% in decline. It's not peanuts.

Meanwhile, while the overall poverty rate was about the same year-over-year, the "supplemental" rate, by which officials measure "participation in government programs," actually more than doubled from 2021-2022, from 5.2% to 12.4%.

So that's not good!

Inflation, of course, has remained high, further eating away at purchasing power and usable income as salaries continue to fall. That's not helping either.

In any event, if we can't blame Joe Biden 100% for starting this, we can certainly heap blame upon him for continuing it and making it even worse.
