Not all heroes wear capes. Some of them don't even wear shirts.

[Warning: Language]

That's the takeaway from a Macon, Georgia, McDonald's this week, when a group of fearless citizens stepped up to capture a dangerous beast that had wandered onto the premises.

Local news reports:

A 12-foot alligator found lounging near a McDonald's drive-thru in Macon this weekend was eventually captured and relocated — but not before a group of residents took matters into their own hands.

The alligator was first spotted Friday outside the McDonald's on Rocky Creek Road, according to the Bibb County Sheriff's Office.

We've got everything here: Black guys in gym attire, white boys in jeans and no shirt, an alligator, a McDonald's dumpster.

These folks were serious about catching this beast — apparently because law enforcement and animal control did nothing for two entire days:

[T]he reptile remained near the restaurant through Sunday.

That's when a group of bystanders stepped in to trap the gator themselves.

Among them was local rapper and music producer Lord D'Andre, who says the group used whatever supplies they could find — including duct tape, shoe laces and jackets — to subdue the animal.

These out-and-out warriors capturing this gator like MacGuyver!

One participant described the harrowing scene in evocative detail:

Dude pulls up with some duct tape and a shoestring. He starts taunting the gator. ... We were like, it's our time now, for real, for real. We finna get this thing. I start yanking him back, walking him like a pitbull.

Me watching a group of Americans of all races and creeds coming together to subdue a gator:

Local law enforcement, meanwhile, said a manpower shortage was the reason they didn't get to the animal in, you know, 48 hours:

We had a trapper that we were trying to get in contact with because our animal control cannot handle this one gator. We have one person that usually does the wildlife.

One of the hero trappers had a more insightful view:

[T]hey didn't come until they actually saw us wrangling it.

Great job, wranglers. Well done.
