Kid goes permanently blind from diet of chicken nuggets and cookies

Here it is, parents. Here's proof in the pudding that harping on your offspring to eat their veggies is the right thing to do.

An 8-year-old boy in Malaysia went permanently blind by subsisting solely on chicken nuggets, sausage, and cookies.

The boy's instructors became aware of the problem after he asked, 'Teacher, why can't I see anything?'

He was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with severe vitamin A deficiency.

The Cleveland Clinic says:

Many people in developing countries don't get enough vitamin A, with infants, children, and people who are pregnant or breastfeeding [they mean women], most at risk. Although vitamin A deficiency is rare in the United States, it is the leading cause of blindness in children around the world.

So, does developing country Malaysia have chicken nuggets and cookies but not vegetables?

And I don't think this explanation explains these stories from "developed" nations.

Here's the hard truth. Show me a kid who went blind from eating nothing but junk food, and I'll show you some weak parents who can't make their kids eat spinach.
