I'm going to have to set the stage for this one.
This is Celena Morrison. He is a man pretending to be a woman.
This is Morrison's spouse, Darius McLean. She is a woman pretending to be a man.
As you can imagine, both are well-connected transgender activists in Greater Philadelphia. On March 2, 2024, Morrison was working as the executive director of the city's Office of LGBT Affairs when he and McLean were stopped by State Trooper Andrew Zaborowski on I-76.
Zaborowski informed the couple that they were driving with illegally tinted windows and without headlights in the rain. Essentially, it was a routine traffic stop.
Zaborowski then discovered that Morrison was driving with an expired and suspended registration (a big no-no for the tax overlords). McLean reportedly became verbally aggressive, leading the officer to place her under arrest. McLean then resisted arrest (another big no-no), at which point Morrison whipped out his phone and started recording.
[Warning: Lots of resisting arrest and transgender confusion]
"That's my husband!" the man with a lisp shouts as the woman with a beard wails, refusing to comply with simple police requests on the shoulder of I-76 westbound.
McLean: It's okay, baby. I don't know why he's doing this! It's okay!
Morrison: I work for the mayor!
McLean: No! No! Please just stop! It's because I'm black!
Zaborowski: It's not because you're black!
Morrison: Yes it is!!
Morrison then resisted arrest himself while McLean continued her bearded hysteria in the background.
Morrison said he feared "the worst was about the happen," indicating his belief that American police are systemically racist and want to shoot black people as much and as quickly as possible ... or something.
Zaborowski was fired two months later.
Politicians such as Stacy Garrity, the state treasurer, and the Pennsylvania State Troopers Association, pushed back against his termination.
Now, in a new lawsuit, the former state trooper claims he was fired for the color of his skin.
From the Daily Mail:
'The decision to terminate [Zaborowski's] employment was based on his race and color,' the lawsuit stated.
His lawsuit also alleges that the State Police discriminates against white cops and officers of color get preferential treatment.
'[State Police] have provided preferential treatment to [Zaborowski's] African-American and black peers with regard to the terms and conditions of their employment,' the court document said.
'African-American and black troopers employed by the PSP have committed serious offenses and have not been disciplined and/or have suffered the harsh discipline of termination.
'[Zaborowski's] aforesaid African-American and black coworkers have been treated with favoritism while he has been treated with unwarranted and unfair scrutiny and discipline with termination.'
He is seeking back pay, front pay, compensatory damages, punitive damages, counsel fees and costs of suit.
The transgender couple have also sued both the state police and Zaborowski.
