Pat Benatar Refuses To Play "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" On Tour Because It Reminds Her Of Mass Shootings
· Jul 25, 2022 · NottheBee.com

I'm officially embarrassed for anyone who bought tickets to Pat Benatar's 2022 tour.

Cuz check this out:

I'm sorry, but that's like one of the six songs we're all here to see.

Terrible.

Yet Benatar maintains that she simply cannot play the song, you know, with all these mass shootings that've been going on lately.

Talk about virtue signaling!

"We're not doing 'Hit Me With Your Best Shot' and fans are having a heart attack and I'm like, I'm sorry, in deference to the victims of the families of these mass shootings, I'm not singing it," the rock singer told USA Today. "I tell them, if you want to hear the song, go home and listen to it."

The song, which included the lyrics "fire away" in the chorus "is tongue-in-cheek" Benatar said. "But you have to draw the line."

Benatar, who is touring through September, said she's unable to sing the words with a smile on her face anymore.

That's so sad that she feels that way. And that literally nobody else on the planet does.

And I got a question: What about "Love Is A Battlefield"?

I mean, isn't every mass shooting essentially a battlefield?

Better scrap that one, too.

Now we're down to four songs.

I'm sorry, but this is one of the dumbest things I've ever heard of.

"I'm not going to go on stage and soapbox — I go to my legislators — but that's my small contribution to protesting. I'm not going to sing it. Tough," [Benatar] said.

Oh shush!
