Pinterest has banned all weight-loss ads in order to "embrace body acceptance" and I have thoughts
· Jul 4, 2021 · NottheBee.com

Okay, I must admit: one of my favorite things to see on the internet are those before-and-after stories of people who used to be very overweight and are now super in shape. There's just something about it that almost brings a man to tears. I just love seeing people succeed.

But here we are in 2021 and you've got people using the term "body shaming" like it's the worst thing in the world. And sure, I get it, no one should make fun of people for their weight, but that's not what we're talking about. We're talking about simple things like suggesting the objectively true fact that it's unhealthy to be overweight and it's healthier to not be overweight.

I take you now to Pinterest, where ads promoting weight-loss have literally been banned:

And while we're at it, here's another link for you:

So yes, it looks like the wokies are fairly happy about this. And I would be too if Pinterest was simply banning gimmick weight-loss ads. But they're not. This has nothing to do with physical health. It has to do with feelings. And if I'm being honest, that makes me feel sad.

Here's Pinterest:

Our updated policy will now prohibit:

  • Any weight loss language or imagery;
  • Any testimonials regarding weight loss or weight loss products;
  • Any language or imagery that idealizes or denigrates certain body types;
  • Referencing Body Mass Index (BMI) or similar indexes; and
  • Any products that claim weight loss through something worn or applied to the skin

This is in addition to ad content that is already barred from Pinterest, including:

  • Weight loss or appetite suppressant pills, supplements, or other products;
  • Before-and-after weight-loss imagery;
  • Weight loss procedures like liposuction or fat burning;
  • Body shaming, such as imagery or language that mocks or discredits certain body types or appearances; and
  • Claims regarding unrealistic cosmetic results

Now, I certainly agree with Pinterest when it comes to weight loss supplements and liposuction. I think that's bogus. But what we have here is a ban on helping people. And it's being done in the name of probably inclusion or something, I'm not sure. But I really don't like this.

Listen, I've got a beer gut and I couldn't run a mile if I tried, so I've got little room to talk when it comes to the benefits of being in shape.

But I do know one thing for sure: IF I LOST SOME WEIGHT AND GOT IN SHAPE I'D BE SIGNIFICANTLY HAPPIER WITH MYSELF.

So for Pinterest to "bravely" come out and do something like this is just absolute garbage.

I thought Pinterest was there to help people.

But apparently they don't care about that anymore.
