Some new developments here concerning actor Alec Baldwin and the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on a movie set back in 2021.
You may remember:
Baldwin had his charges dismissed back in April, but now a New Mexico prosecutor says she may be bringing them back.
Charged with involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who he was working alongside on the set of "Rust" in 2021, Baldwin's case will now be brought before a grand jury.
The move followed results of an independent forensic test that found Baldwin had to have pulled the trigger of a revolver he was rehearsing with for it to fire the live round that killed Hutchins and wounded director Joel Souza.
The finding was the same as a previous FBI test on the firearm.
"After extensive investigation over the past several months, additional facts have come to light that we believe show Mr. Baldwin has criminal culpability in the death of Halyna Hutchins and the shooting of Joel Souza," Morrissey and Jason Lewis said in a statement.
The charges were dropped back in April after evidence suggested the gun may have been modified and able to fire without the trigger being pulled. The prosecutor at the time said if testing revealed that the gun was working properly, she'd recharge Baldwin. Baldwin himself claims he never pulled the trigger; this new evidence, however, suggests otherwise.
Baldwin's case will be brought before the grand jury mid-November.
