Remember when people warned that cheapening impeachment would make it become a regular thing?

Several Republican lawmakers have filed articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden, saying that Biden is "not capable of being Commander-In-Chief."

From the Daily Wire:

Rep. Bob Gibbs (R-OH) introduced three articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on Tuesday citing his handling of Afghanistan, immigration, and the now-defunct federal eviction moratorium.

"I take this seriously. I don't think it's haphazard. I'm not trying to get media attention for myself," Gibbs told The Washington Examiner, which first reported the impeachment push. "He's done so much damage to this country in less than nine months, which is really scary."

"He's not capable of being commander-in-chief, and that's obvious by the actions since Day One when he took the presidency back in January," he said. "Maybe something like this makes the White House think twice before they do some of this nonsense."

Gibbs introduced the articles of impeachment with fellow House members Andy Briggs (AZ), Brian Babin (TX), and Randy Webber (TX).

"Obviously, it's not going to go anywhere with Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi," Gibbs told the Examiner. "It shows that there are some Republicans that think that this president needs to be impeached, he needs to be removed from office one way or another."

"At some point, they're gonna be held accountable for their actions, and this is kind of putting them on notice," he said.

There were some wise people who once said that it was a bad idea to use impeachment – a tool used in the direst of situations to remove a wayward or tyrannical executive from power – for every small accusation under the sun.

You know, like a phone call to Ukraine (which Joe Biden certainly never had), or putting words in the president's mouth to prove he got some dumbs dumbs to sit in Nancy Pelosi's chair and get shot by Capitol Police.

Some people told the octogenarian running the House that she shouldn't call the president an incompetent traitor every five seconds because he's a Republican, or rip up copies of his speech because he's a Republican, or invoke the 25th Amendment because he's a Republican.

Such things, those people warned, might set a precedent that would cause articles of impeachment to be served every 5 minutes, cheapening the meaning until it's finally meaningless.

Those people also warned that it would make impeachment fair game if you did more than make a phone call inquiring about the suspicious income of the drug-addicted son of your political foe...

...Say, that you led a bloody withdrawal of the U.S. military from a nation and handed it over to terrorists, or you weaponized federal agencies like the CDC and OSHA against Americans, or you purposely created a border crisis, or you caused crippling inflation, or you signed executive orders with the expressed desire to attack constitutional protections, or you are showing visibly diagnosable mental decline.

Those people were just silly though. Let the games continue!
