Lawsuit: Rich black couple in majority-black town says neighbors keep calling the police on them because they are black 🥴
· Sep 3, 2024 · NottheBee.com

The Floyds, a black couple in an affluent area of Maryland, have an interesting strategy for dealing with neighbors who are upset they've turned their almost-million-dollar home in Accokeek into a party hub: Cry racism.

After arriving in 2020, Prince and Angela Floyd turned their home into the "Floyd Estates," along with features like a red carpet, live band and food trucks (and rumors of exotic dancers) for parties that are literally the talk of the town.

Police have arrived at their door 41 times in three years for noise complaints, and now the Floyds are suing for racial discrimination to the tune of $3 million in damages, alleging that their civil rights have been violated. They are also demanding a jury trial and membership to the local civic association.

Yes, they are fighting for their right to part-ay!

"It makes me feel threatened, like my life could be taken," said Prince Floyd, who is 53 years old, with an apparently-extensive criminal history including drunk driving and battery. "When they show up and they see a black man talking to them, it is almost like they are ready to be aggressive with me."

So much racism keeping them down!

There's just one problem…

Accokeek is a majority black town! Of the 14,000 or so residents, 65.2% are black, while 18.7% are white.

"It has nothing to do with them being black," said one of the Floyd's black neighbors, Margaret Littlejohn, who is named in the lawsuit. "It has to do with them not being good neighbors."

Another neighbor, Maria Femia, who is white, alleged that Prince Floyd "verbally abused and bullied her" after she raised concerns over traffic problems in the neighborhood.

"Living across the road from the Floyds," Femia told the Washington Post, "I have to deal with the unpleasant, nasty behavior, the loud parties, the traffic, illegal fireworks, food trucks, the buses full of people coming to their property blocking the roads for their large events."

The [couple's] eight-bedroom home, last sold in 2020 for $784,895, is now worth $931,675, according to Redfin.

Can't you just feel their oppression??
