You read that right! Or maybe you didn't. Or maybe I got it wrong. It's so hard to keep these things straight.
The point is that, according to CNN, MTV is launching the 13th season of RuPaul's Drag Race, and this year, well the gender confusion gets even more confusing.
This season has a twist with its first trans man contestant in the drag competition.
According to the show bios, contestant Gottmik is a "celebrity makeup artist ... ready to win the competition one face at a time" and "a trans man who is changing the shape of drag."
I am going to try to break this down in the most straightforward way possible. But I may need to get out my chart.
So this individual, Gottmik, is a "transgender man" which means a biological woman who believes that she is actually a man in a woman's body. Have I lost you yet? Good. Now, this biological woman believes that she is a man and as a "man" she participates in drag. Drag, of course, is the practice of men dressing as women, except Gottmik is a "transgender man," meaning actually she's a woman.
So, a woman who thinks she's a man is participating in a contest as a man pretending to be a woman.
I think I cracked the code. Now, let me simplify the headline like a fraction:
Woman Dresses as Woman
So #Stunning and such #Bravery
Are you confused yet? Do you know what's what?
No?
Good. That's the goal.
