Angel Studios is projecting over $85 million total cumulative box office revenue through Sunday, with a strong $27 million box office draw in the second weekend of the film's domestic release.
That's bonkers. Opening weekend is huge for a movie because sales usually fall off a cliff in subsequent weeks. Only big-budget hits usually have the staying power to keep their numbers high, but even they usually see precipitous drops.
There have only been 10 major releases in film history that have seen a 35% or more increase in sales during their second weekend in theaters, and all of them except "Sound of Freedom" have been movies released around Christmas when holiday gatherings and vacation time smack a little differently than the rest of the year.
"There have only been 10 wide-release movies in box office history that have had a second-weekend increase greater than 35% over their opening weekend. All of them achieved this milestone during Christmas. Angel Studios is the only studio to accomplish this feat during the summer blockbuster season with 'SOUND OF FREEDOM'," added Brandon Purdie, Head of Theatrical Distribution for Angel Studios.
This record has been broken despite the legacy media calling the film "QAnon" and numerous reported issues at theaters, such as broken AC, that has brought into question whether some activist theater employees or owners are trying to keep people from seeing the film.

All attempts to turn people away from this movie have massively backfired!
