Yeah, that's a two-story restaurant that delivers food through mini-elevators and has a whole bunch of mobile ordering options.

I gotta say, I know what Taco Bell does to the digestive system...

...But dang if this doesn't look cool.

The new Minnesota restaurant isn't just a gimmick, either. There's a reason for the design, and it comes down to delivery speed.

Unless you only eat at Chick-Fil-A (which can process a line that wraps around the block in minutes), you've probably experienced many annoyingly long waits in the drive-thru.

There's always that one guy in front of you who ordered 15 custom items and needs exactly 17 packets of ketchup.

This new Taco Bell aims to rid us of that nuisance forever.

From The Verge:

Of the four drive-thru lanes, one is solely a traditional drive-thru. That leaves the other three to prioritize people who order the app so they can check-in, "skip the line," scan a QR code, pick up their food and be on their way, or for the third-party delivery drivers working for services like Door Dash, GrubHub, or Uber Eats.

And from CNN Business:

Another advantage, according to Taco Bell, is reducing the amount of time customers spend in the drive thru. A 2021 survey from QSR magazine said that a Taco Bell order takes an average of 268 seconds, or about 4.5 minutes, to complete. With Defy, the chain is looking to shorten the process to 2 minutes or less thanks to the multiple drive-thru lanes.

I don't know what Taco Bell is up to, but with Dolly Parton, the Mexican Pizza, and this new restaurant, this is shaping up to be the Year Of The Bell.
