Taco Tuesday is now for everyone after Taco Bell triumphs in lawsuit against Taco John's over trademark phrase
· Aug 16, 2023 · NottheBee.com

Wyoming-based Taco John's trademarked the phrase "Taco Tuesday" in 1989.

But Taco Bell wanted to use the phrase too, especially as the phrase has become so popular. For example, the Lego Movie's villain had a dubious plot called "Taco Tuesday."

Given the widespread use of "Taco Tuesday" and the fact that most Americans have never heard of Taco John's (an unfortunate truth since a Potato Olé dipped in nacho cheese will rock your world), Taco Bell sued to vacate their trademark.

Taco John's went down without a fight.

Taco John's conceded and said they are "lovers, not fighters."

"We've always prided ourselves on being the home of Taco Tuesday, but paying millions of dollars to lawyers to defend our mark just doesn't feel like the right thing to do," Taco John's CEO Jim Creel said.

And now both companies are celebrating with Taco Tuesday deals.

Taco John's is selling two tacos for two dollars, and Taco Bell is giving away one Doritos Taco for free, no purchase necessary, every Tuesday for one month.

I think you know what's for dinner.

On the other hand, luring people out with the promise of free tacos sounds vaguely familiar.

If you see someone carrying a tube of Kragle, RUN!!!
