An 18-year old Florida mom tried to hire a hitman on the fake website Rentahitman.com to kill her 3-year-old son.

You all remember Rentahitman.com. The satirical site that people keep mistaking for the real deal.

Investigators posing as an assassin from the website spoke to Jasmin Paez about the hit. She was arrested after submitting pictures of her son, the specific location he was going to be at, and agreeing to pay $3,000 to have him murdered.

Authorities verified that the IP address was her home and verified the child's identity after talking to his grandmother.

Paez's rationale for wanting to kill her son was that her ex-boyfriend dumped her because he did not like that she had a son. She thought that if her son was dead, he would take her back.

Paez was charged with first-degree solicitation of murder, which if convicted could land the teen mom 15-30 years behind bars.

The child is in the safe custody of his family.

I can't help but draw a parallel to the recently reported story of the Nebraska woman who aborted, burned, and discarded her baby in a field.

That story contained the following line:

Outside the womb, if a mother hired a hitman to kill her baby or did it herself, she would go to prison for a lot longer than 90 days.

It's a sad state our culture is in when children are seen as a burden to be removed rather than a blessing to be celebrated.
