Republicans, with the deepest respect, may I ask: Why are you the absolute worst at your jobs?
The LEOSA Reform Act essentially closes legal loopholes that make carrying concealed weapons difficult for police in certain locations. Varying state laws can make it hard for officers to know where they are allowed to carry a concealed weapon, such as schools or stadiums or public transport, and in some places, officers are prohibited from carrying concealed weapons under federal law even if civilians with state-issued permits are able to.
The updated bill also exempts officers from state magazine-capacity laws: That way officers can adequately protect themselves, even if us little people can't!
At the same time, in the GOP-controlled Ways and Means committee, Republican congressmen are fighting to protect the federal government's tax scheme under the National Firearms Act.
Say that I want to buy a suppressor for my rifle. I would be required to submit a form to the ATF with my fingerprints, passport photo, and $200 for every suppressor I want to buy. The same is true for every other item on the government's arbitrary list.
Republican voters have been pushing for decades to gut the outdated NFA, which has been used by Democrats to push hard for gun control.
But instead of listening, the GOP is doing its usual "Democrat-lite" routine, where it pretends to care about its voters while capitulating on everything.
Let's just say that the GOP's anti-liberty stance is not popular with its core voters:
If Republicans want to prove they aren't feckless RINOs, they might want to understand what time it is. Voters handed them control of the entire government back in November - not because they love the GOP, but because they were giving them a mandate to GET STUFF DONE.
Enough with the century-old regulations on modern firearms tech, you Republican knuckleheads.
You only have a year and a half left to get these things done.
