Yo, virtue signalers: Stop it with the Juneteenth food. We know you are DESPERATE to try to cash in on the race hustling that's popular right now (#CAPITALISM!), but every year some organization makes the mistake of going this route.
This year, it was the Children's Museum of Indianapolis. From WaPo:
The Children's Museum of Indianapolis on Friday invited people to its upcoming "Juneteenth Jamboree," promising live performances, a showcase of local artists and other activities. In the Facebook invitation, staff did not mention a dish the museum was selling to mark the June 19 holiday: a "Juneteenth Watermelon Salad."
Oh, but people found out, and as soon as a photo of the $10 prepackaged salad started circulating, it was game over.
The museum immediately backtracked, making the second fatal mistake of apologizing to the mob they were trying to cater to. Look at how woke it was:
As a museum, we apologize and acknowledge the negative impact that stereotypes have on Black communities. The salad has been removed from the menu. We are currently reviewing how we may best convey these stories and traditions during this year's Juneteenth celebration as well as making changes around how future food selections are made by our food service provider.
Our food service provider uses the food and beverage menu to commemorate and raise awareness of holidays like Juneteenth. The team that made this selection included their staff members who based this choice of food on their own family traditions.
So the museum heavily implies that this choice was made by BLACK TEAM MEMBERS WHO CHOSE THE WATERMELON SALAD BASED ON THEIR OWN FAMILY TRADITIONS.
Doesn't matter, though. What really matters is that they are gonna DO BETTER with their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives for kids.
As we work to create a culture of empowerment and inclusivity, we know there will be stumbles along the way. As a museum, we have put a significant effort behind sharing the critical and diverse stories of a wide range of individuals. We also have placed a strong emphasis on expanding DEAI initiatives throughout the museum. We resolve to do better, and continue bringing all voices forward in our work.
As expected, the apology did nothing and the woke mob still devoured them alive.
Actually, I am gonna share my thoughts, thank you very much.
Every people group in the world has certain foods that are specifically associated with them.
When it comes to the unique culinary contributions of black Americans, we have an entire category called "Soul Food." And there are entire Critical Race Theory publications that outline what people should eat on Juneteenth to celebrate black Americans.
Guess what a popular header photo is?
If you're confused, it's because the Critical Race Marxists say that celebrating food that's popular within the black American community on a day that honors the Emancipation of black Americans is actually cultural appropriation and therefore racist.
To which I would reply: I hope all you wokies are being consistent in your worldview and not eating Italian, Chinese, Middle Eastern, Thai, Greek, French, Japanese, or other foods if you don't belong to those ethnic groups.
DO BETTER!
