This is insane:
Chicago suffered another violent weekend over the Independence Day holiday, with at least 88 people shot since Friday, 14 of whom were killed, according to new reports.
Among the 74 people injured through Monday were children, including a five-year-old girl who was shot in the leg and a six-year-old girl, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.
So many people are getting shot in Chicago that the individual stories of five children getting shot are being lumped together for time.
Forget that Chicago is in America for a second.
Can you imagine hearing this list every weekend as an army casualty report out of Iraq or Afghanistan?
Meanwhile, Mayor Lori Lightfoot says that crime is going down and declared racism a "public emergency."
The overwhelming majority of the criminals and victims involved in these shootings are black.
I guess their lives don't matter to the mayor unless they're shot by a white person.
There's one good story that came out of all this madness. In one incident, a man with a legally concealed weapon stopped a shooter.
Maybe Chicago, which has some of the strictest gun laws in the nation, should empower more of these law-abiding citizens to better protect their families from murderous criminals and spend less time screeching empty platitudes about systemic racism.
