San Fran just released its latest "Opportunity Gap" data and it shows that the city is absolutely destroying the futures of black and Latino students
· Jul 19, 2022 · NottheBee.com

These numbers are absolutely brutal and they paint a bleak, brutal future for countless students in San Francisco:

Let's do a quick breakdown of some of the key figures from this report:

  • Just four out of every 10 black students in San Francisco is "proficient" in math at their grade level, fully half the rate of white and Asian students.
  • Well over half of all black students are "chronically absent," while nearly half of all Latino students are.
  • Just 15% of black students, and fewer than 25% of Latino ones, are "ready for high school," compared to 71% of Asian students. (Fewer than half of white students are ready, either—nothing to write home about.)

There's just no way around it:

It's still a bit odd to note, though, that, say, just 24.7% of black students are "ready for college," yet 86% of black students have "graduated from high school."

Hmmmm.

Regardless, it's clear that nonwhite students in San Francisco are being railroaded into an extremely disadvantaged life. Not good, at all.
