The Salt Lake City Tribune editorial board is calling for government to use the National Guard to keep unvaxxed people in their homes

Yeah, over here at NTB we don't do satire, so this is an actual thing:

Before getting to any details, let's zero in on this quote:

ENHANCE:

There are some choice terms we've used in the 20th century for people who want to use the military to oppress and bully their neighbors. The editorial board of The Salt Lake Tribune would apparently fit in nicely with them.

Now let's get to some additional details:

The Salt Lake City Tribune editorial board published an editorial on Saturday that called on the Utah governor to use the National Guard to prevent unvaccinated citizens from going anywhere.

In an editorial titled, "Utah leaders have surrendered to COVID pandemic, the Editorial Board writes" the paper lays blame at elected officials for failing to mandate the vaccine for all citizens. The paper asserted that if Utah was a "civilized place," Republican Gov. Spencer Cox would implement a COVID-19 vaccine mandate for the state and have the National Guard enforce the mandate by not letting unvaccinated people go "anywhere."

The editorial board says this is okay because it would be part of the fight to eliminate Covid like we've eliminated the measles... because they apparently still live under the delusion that we can eliminate the 'Rona.

Cox, state legislative leaders, our congressional delegation and Utah Attorney General Sean Reyes have so proudly stood against the kind of vaccine mandates that civilized society has used for generations to effectively wipe out everything from polio to diphtheria to the measles.

Um, actually, you can opt out of those vaccines if you want. You might need exemptions in certain places, like if you're a healthcare worker, but no one is sending the National Guard after families in the park who didn't give their child a shot for whooping cough.

You know, because of inalienable rights, the Constitution, the Nuremberg Code, the conscience and understanding of the moral law God has written on our hearts, and all sorts of things.

"President Joe Biden tried to pull a couple of useful levers by ordering vaccine mandates for health care workers and vaccine-or-test rules for workplaces of more than 100 employees. The U.S. Supreme Court this week upheld the former while quashing the latter, foolishly holding that a communicable disease is not a workplace hazard," the editorial board wrote.

No, the Court decided that liberty and the law of the land should be upheld and not allow the executive branch of the government to use a generic workplace safety agency that no one voted for to force everyone to lose the income they need to feed their family based on a virus that can be caught anywhere and isn't lethal to most people.

Utah's lieutenant governor said that this anti-scientific, fascist insanity "is the sort of nonsense that makes editorial boards irrelevant."

Amen to that!
