Few things herald the crumbling of Western civilization more than the steady, maddening, relentless growth of the Christmas season. For years it has been steadily marching through the fall months, working its way back past Halloween. And toward Labor Day.
Now it's just straight up intruding on summer:
At Home Depot, products launched online included eight-foot Santas and giant nutcrackers. And Costco has already started rolling out its artificial Christmas trees on store floors.
Unacceptable.
This isn't just an isolated rumor, mind you. People are observing this all over the country.
I don't say this lightly, folks: It's time for boycotts. We don't even need an actual boycott. Just STOP BUYING CHRISTMAS STUFF IN AUGUST AND THEY'LL STOP PUTTING IT OUT, PEOPLE.
This madness has to end. It is absolutely not inconceivable to imagine that "the Christmas season" will one day stretch back into May. Why wouldn't it? People will apparently buy this stuff no matter how early they set it out. Let's just leave it out all year!
This is ruining the special, unique magic of Christmas. Not the actual Christian holiday, of course — they can't touch that. The miracle of Christ's birth will always remain miraculous no matter how early they put the trees out. But the one-of-a-kind wonder of the American Christmas season is getting diluted and cheapened with this year-round nonsense.
