This astronomer was locked out of Twitter for three months because she shared a video of a meteor flagged as "intimate content"

Man, I guess Twitter jail really does come after everybody:

Mary McIntyre, an astronomer from Oxfordshire, UK, has been locked out of Twitter since August, all because she shared this video of a meteor shower which was flagged as "intimate content" by Twitter's AI moderators.

Not sure how this could be interpreted as intimate.

Possibly McIntyre was crying in the video?

(Hey, stargazing can be very intimate sometimes!)

Anyhow:

The video itself was of the Perseid meteor shower, a dazzling display caused by debris left behind by comet Swift – Tuttle slamming into the Earth. Happening every year in July or August, it is considered one of the brightest and best of the year.

Sweet! I'll have to keep an eye out for this next summer!

Accused of sharing "intimate content," McIntyre had a decision to make.

This left the astronomer with just one option, to delete the tweet, however, doing so would have agreed that she violated the rules. As a result, her initial 12-hour ban continued for three whole months as she continued the appeals process, all the while her account remained online but inaccessible.

Yeah, I wouldn't admit to sharing intimate content either. You'd probably get put on a list somewhere. And for what, a meteor shower?!?

No way!

Well, good news, it looks like Twitter finally let her back in:

Great job, Twitter!

Now come on, Elon, free The Babylon Bee, will ya?!
