At least three passenger planes over the Atlantic got pushed faster than 800mph by jet-stream winds ๐Ÿ˜ฐ

Jets stream winds of 265 miles per hour are no joke, fam.

British Airways Flight 292 from Washington to London arrived 32 minutes early, while British Airways Flight 216 along the same route was 20 minutes early.

Meanwhile, a United Airlines flight from Newark departed at 20:35 Saturday and reached 835mph just off the East Coast before reaching its destination in Lisbon 20 minutes early.

Lastly, American Airlines Flight 120 from Philadelphia to Doha reached 840mph at around 22:15, about 30 minutes after takeoff.

Live look at the passengers on those flights:

But hey, at least the National Weather Service warned them?

I'd hate to see that pop up on my feed as I'm about to fly over the Atlantic!

I'd have been curled up in the fetal position sucking my thumb, cuz that just looks like death staring you in the face.

Is an hour off your travel time worth it? I kinda feel like it would be. Sure, your chances of dying are slightly higher, but I'm an American and an hour is an eternity.

I wonder what it was like to be the pilots.

Now imagine those pilots had their training fast-tracked because they identify as genderqueer disabled lesbians of color!

The planes technically traveled faster than the speed of sound, but it didn't actually cuz SCIENCE.

This craziness likely happened because of the weather pattern we are in that made last summer hot and this winter wet and mild.

But get this: The passengers on these flights might have just been part of history:

While there isn't an official record of top ground speeds, The Washington Post reported that the two Saturday flights were among the highest known recorded speeds.

Some of the other top recorded speeds include a China Airlines flight that reached 826 mph over the Pacific Ocean last month and a British Airways flight that reached 825 mph in 2020.

They say climate change is making this worse but all I see is a bright, windy future where I can get from here to China in minutes flat!
