Donald Trump has turned himself in to be arraigned in a Manhattan court and has officially entered his plea of "not guilty" on unsealed charges of 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in the first degree.
The charges against Trump, the leading Republican presidential candidate for 2024, are related to allegedly falsifying business records in order to make hush money payments to two women prior to the 2016 presidential election.
The indictment asserts that these payments were made to silence the women's claims of sexual encounters with Trump, preventing potential damage to his campaign, according to media reports.
Trump's last post on Truth Social before heading into the courtroom asserts that he "can't believe this is happening in America."
Earlier today he also posted that "the radical left Democrats have criminalized the justice system."
The former president has now exited the courtroom; he did not offer any comments to reporters on his way out. He will now make the flight back to Florida.
Trump is expected to give a speech this evening at his Mar-a-Lago resort. at 8:15 p.m. ET.
