A new survey has shown that a strong majority of American parents are not exactly thrilled about public schools moonlighting as gender transition clinics. Who could've possibly guessed?!
This survey, conducted by Parents Defending Education, asked 1,000 parents across the country about their thoughts on schools diving headfirst into the deep end of the woke pool, and most of them think it's a terrible idea.
Let's take a quick look at some of the questions polled.
When asked if schools should help kids change their "gender identity" without telling their parents — which includes everything from new names and pronouns to wearing breast binders — 80% of parents basically said, "uh, no," with 68% strongly disagreeing and 12% "somewhat" disagreeing.
(Guess somewhat means a maybe to names, but a big no to surgery?)
They also asked parents if schools should keep a child's "gender identity" a secret, and 75% of parents said they weren't on board.
The poll also showed that 77% of parents in this survey agreed that schools should require staff to inform parents if their child wants to change their "gender identity," while 79% agreed that the school should receive parental consent before moving forward with supporting any change of "gender identity."
And what about this poll question:
A number of public-school districts across the country currently maintain official policies that assist students with ‘transitioning' to a different gender - which includes using a different name and pronoun chosen by the child and allowing him or her to use locker rooms and bathrooms that correspond to this new identity. It also may include recommending a student visit a local clinic, where they can receive prescriptions for puberty blockers or hormone injections. As part of this process, some schools do not share this information with parents because they assert that families are not ‘safe' or that parents would not be ‘supportive.' A training presentation for teachers in one Wisconsin school district stated ‘parents are not entitled to know their kids' identities. That knowledge must be earned.' Do you agree or disagree with that statement?
74% disagreed!
Oh, and there's the 78% of parents who oppose "biological males, who identify as females, being allowed to participate on girls' sports teams."
The group behind the survey — led by Erika Sanzi — called this trend of keeping parents in the dark "complete madness."
"The policies propagated by activist groups, the National School Boards Association and teachers' unions all allow for — and often require — the deliberate deception of parents by school staff if that is what the minor child wants," Sanzi said in a statement provided to The Christian Post. "It's refreshing to see even more confirmation that people think this ubiquitous trend of facilitating gender transitions behind the backs of parents is complete madness and needs to stop."
Parents live in reality. Who knew?
