This is the kind of thing you see in the movies.

On Friday morning, Auburn University sophomore slugger Cade Belyeu lost his mother to cancer. That night was opening night for the Tigers and what happened next ... you can't make this stuff up.

Belyeu singled in his first at-bat, then later in the game knocked home the first homer of the season, all hours after his mom passed away.

Auburn's coach Butch Thompson received a call early in the morning from Belyeu, informing the coach that his mom passed away.

'Then he said he wanted to play,' Thompson said. 'His mom, Staci, wanted him to play.

A few hours later, Thompson said he was wrestling with whether or not Belyeu should see the field. So, he called his father, Roger Belyeu, and deferred to him.

'He said Staci wanted him to play,' Thompson said. 'I think it was the most inspiring thing we've ever seen. Our crowd is just amazing. They absolutely sensed and knew what was going on with him. ... An inspiration by Cade Belyeu.'

Just playing in the game is one thing, but hitting a home run is incredible.

A young fan caught the ball in the stands and returned it to the team who then gave the ball to Cade.

This deserves a major "War Eagle!"
