A portly female rapper from Detroit is suing Lyft for millions of dollars after a driver refused her a ride to a Lions watch party ... because he didn't want his car to break.
Yes, this is a real story. Dank Demoss, a rapper weighing nearly 500 pounds, is suing Lyft for weight discrimination.
Here's the video she took when being denied the ride:
And here's Lyft's apology.
Doesn't matter, cuz Dank Demoss is suing.
Bet you didn't know that weight is actually a protected class in Michigan. From the Elliott-Larsen Civil Rights Act of 1976:
The opportunity to obtain employment, housing and other real estate, and the full and equal utilization of public accommodations, public service, and educational facilities without discrimination because of religion, race, color, national origin, age, sex, height, weight, familial status, or marital status as prohibited by this act, is recognized and declared to be a civil right.
Not gonna lie, with an idiotic law like that on the books, I'm pretty sure Dank Demoss is going to win that lawsuit.
To accommodate Dank Demoss in the future, there's only one way for these drivers to make it work.
