Well this is racist and sadly not entirely surprising:
Yes, organizers for one of those gay black pride events in Seattle—you know, the ones that force black people to share their black pride with a bunch of people who take pride in sexual exploration—they're saying they're going to charge "white allies and accomplices" (yes, they wrote that) A REPARATIONS FEE.
The fee can be anywhere between $10 and $50 depending on the willingness of the whitey entering the event.
They said:
All are free to attend HOWEVER this is a BLACK AND BROWN QUEER TRANS CENTERED, PRIORITIZED, VALUED, EVENT. White allies and accomplices are welcome to attend but will be charged a $10 to $50 reparations fee that will be used to keep this event free of cost for BLACK AND BROWN Trans and Queer COMMUNITY.
Sad.
These people are sad.
And you wanna hear something funny? According to a Seattle Municipal Code:
It is unlawful for any person occupying or using any park or recreation facility for any event, activity or exhibition open to the public, whether or not under a permit and whether or not an admission or entrance fee is charged, to deny to any other person the full use and enjoyment of such park and recreation facility because of race, creed, color, sex...In addition to other sanctions, the permit of any person who is convicted of a violation of this section, for access or use of such park and recreation facility may be canceled and after notice and hearing, the Superintendent may order that such person shall not be eligible for any similar permit for access to, or use of, a park and/or recreation facility for a period up to three (3) years.
So they're really going to have to tear America to the ground before any of this malarkey they're trying to push can move forward. It's amazing how much of an impact basic human freedom can have on a society.
You know, the best part about this reparations fee is that it excludes queer and trans white people, for they're the folks upon which this event is centered. So literally all you gotta do if you're some southern white guy trying to get in for free is put on a wig, maybe stick out your butt a little bit, and boom, you're in, no reparation charge necessary!
