Mark this one down as one of the worst dad moves of all time.
Yeah, dads, if you're drunk and have no driver, DO NOT put the responsibility on your 10-year-old. Should be an obvious one.
But not for this guy:
On Sept. 2 just around 3:38 p.m., a trooper responded to the report near Scottsdale Road. The trooper tried to stop the driver after seeing them "changing lanes unsafely in violation of traffic law."
The driver didn't stop, so the trooper initiated a pursuit at 3:44 p.m.
"The driver stopped in the right emergency lane at milepost 26, prior to the 7th Street off-ramp, at approximately 3:47 p.m.," DPS spokesperson Raul Garcia said.
The trooper confirmed the driver was 10 years old. In the passenger seat was his 49-year-old father, Alvaro Ovando Alvarez.
In the passenger seat with an open container of alcohol in his hand.
Wow, that's how much you care about your kid, huh?
Some guys just can't dad, I guess.
I'll assume these two were coming from a bar, or possibly a barbeque or something, and dad got a little too wasted. But here's the thing, even if you're drunk you should know not to put a 10-year-old behind the wheel. I mean, at least wait until he's 12!
Alvarez was booked into 4th Avenue Jail and is accused of child abuse, endangerment, aggravated DUI, possessing an open container of alcohol, and unlawfully permitting a minor to drive.
Dads, we gotta do better. Collectively, we must do better.
I'll leave you with this:
Quite the mugshot, I must add.
